TempPro TempSpike TP960B Smart Wireless Meat Thermometer — Truly Wireless, Bluetooth

I love this for BBQing pork chops and steaks, it is very easy to use.After a year of use it stopped pairing to the base unit, I tried all of the recommended steps but couldn't get it going. Went to the web site and contacted support, it took less than 10 minutes to get a response. After a few more test it still would not work, they didn't hesitate or give me the run around, before the end of the day they have sent a new one free of charge.

My probe stopped working, however, still giving this 5 stars because their customer service is excellent, and because I did love it while it was working! They were able to replace mine at no cost to me. No fuss at all. Thanks!

Got this as a gift for my brother who loves backyard barbecues, and he loves it! Two‑size probes cover nearly all his cooking needs. He can monitor two foods at once without hovering over the grill. Easy pairing and readable app. Great practical gift idea for anyone into grilling and home roasting

So, let me tell you, I've had my ThermoPro for 2-3 years. I love it! I've used it for turkeys, brisket, ribs, chicken, steak, everything. The connectivity is great. Keep in mind it uses Bluetooth so you're not going to get a ton of range just like any other Bluetooth device. The app works really well and is very intuitive.Now, the probe suddenly stopped working on Thanksgiving of all days. I was so upset. The base would only connect if in "boost" but the probe would never connect. I did everything to fix it based off the ThermoPro site. I also contacted their customer service. We were unable to fix it so they sent me a replacement. Their customer service is OUTSTANDING. I have several other ThermoPro products and after their amazing service, I won't get any other product. Well done guys!

Accurate when connected. Signal acts weird with closed grill lid, still worth buying.

This thermometer performs well 90% of time. Probe is nice, no wires to worry about burning. App alerts work fine. It!!!!

**Update 16 months after purchase.** Have used the device regularly, and love it, especially for larger, longer-cooking meats. However, the last two times I used it the probe appeared to not be holding its charge and would not last for the duration of the cook. I reached out to ThermoPro, and they sent me a new unit within a couple of days, direct to my home in Mexico.So, couple great customer service with a great product - awesome! Exceptional design, easy to use, mobile app is very good, hopefully it will stand the test of time (I think it will based on apparent manufacturing quality). Have used it three times in a week since I got it - whole chicken, tri-tip, turkey breast. Knowing both meat and ambient temperatures really minimizes trips out to the grill - this is huge during football game BBQs and inclement weather. My BBQ is at the back of the yard - zero issues with signal strength or communication from probe to booster to mobile app. 100% wireless design is far superior to others with wires that will inevitably lead to failure. Price point, function and quality combine for a 5 star solution.

I was impressed with the ThermoPro TempSpike right out of the box. This is an attractive and solidly engineered product. The app is easy to set up and pairing was flawless. The charging station took less than an hour to reach full charge, and the probe took a little over 5 hrs. The app is straightforward and seems to do everything that I could possibly need. Though, I wish the app used a numeric display for the battery levels, rather than two tiny icons. I’ve had no issues with the range, although I live in an apartment so I’ve never tested this beyond 50-100 feet. The critical test for me was accuracy. I recently bought, and returned, the ThermoPro TP902 because of accuracy issues, even though I really liked everything else about this unit. I did limited testing of the TempSpike by placing it in my tabletop Wolf convection oven alongside a trusted thermometer. I checked temperatures in 5 degree increments from 140 to 200F, and found good agreement between the two TempSpike sensors and my other thermometer. I’ll eventually test the ambient sensor at higher temperatures, but I bought this mainly to use in a smoker operating at 225-250F.A couple of things to consider. I found that when I ran my temperature test the ambient sensor response time lagged the internal sensor and it often took 5-10 minutes for the two sensors to stabilize and reach agreement. I really didn’t expect insta-read performance, so this shouldn’t be an issue for long, slow cooks. The downside to the internal sensor is that it can only be used for thick items due to the large diameter of the probe. Though, I’m not certain this is a valid criticism. Thin meats, vegetables, etc. cook very fast, so if you know your grill/oven temperatures you probably don’t need a constant-read thermometer and would be better off with insta-read.The only possible issue I can think of with this thermometer is the longevity of the two internal lithium batteries. Namely, how long before the batteries can no longer be reliably charged? What happens then - can the unit be serviced or is it necessary to buy a new one? So far I’ve never seen this issue addressed. This is a very cool product so I only hope that it will withstand many years of use.Bottom line - so far I’m very impressed with this product from ThermoPro and would enthusiastically recommend it to others.
