Shop TempPro leave-in meat thermometers with oven-safe probes and temperature alarms. Monitor meat while roasting, grilling, smoking, or baking without opening the oven or grill.
A leave-in thermometer has a heat-safe probe that stays inside the food for the entire cook, with the wire running out to a display unit that sits safely outside the oven or grill. You set a target temperature, and it alarms the moment your food is ready, so you never open the lid or guess. It's the perfect partner to an instant-read: one for quick spot checks, one for long, hands-off cooks like brisket, turkey, or a Sunday roast.
Pick by probe count and how you read the screen:
Most popular, best all-rounder: the TempPro TP717 runs two probes with a tap-to-light display, tracking meat and smoker temp at once.
Big always-on screen: the TempPro TP17 runs two probes on a large, constantly lit LCD, readable across the kitchen.
Simple single probe: the TempPro TP16 keeps it basic with oversized digits and a 99-hour timer; the TempPro TP16S adds a one-touch backlight.
For a crowd: the TempPro TP17H gives four color-coded probes for brisket, ribs, and pit temp at once.
Yes! The food-grade stainless steel probe and braided mesh cable stay in the heat while the display sits outside, so you close the lid right on the cable, no problem. Two numbers matter: the probe reads food from 14°F to 572°F, while the stainless mesh cable is heat-rated up to 716°F (380°C), well above any oven, grill, or smoker. That headroom is why you can run a 12-hour brisket without worrying about the cable.
Yes to both. Beyond the built-in USDA presets, you can set your own custom target temperature for any cut or doneness you like, then walk away. When the food hits it, the alarm sounds a loud beep so you'll hear it across the kitchen or from the next room, and on models like the TP717, TP17, and TP17H it also flashes a visual alert, handy in a noisy kitchen or a loud backyard cookout. Many models add a high/low range alarm too, so on long smokes it warns you when the pit needs more fuel, no constant lid-checking required.
It comes down to how many things you cook at once. A single-probe model like the TempPro TP16 or TempPro TP16S tracks one target, usually the meat's internal temperature, and is perfect for a weeknight roast or a single cut. Step up to a dual-probe TempPro TP717 or TempPro TP17 and you can watch two at once: the meat plus your oven or smoker's ambient temperature, or two separate cuts. And if you're feeding a crowd, the TempPro TP17H runs four color-coded probes, so brisket, ribs, and the pit temperature all stay on one screen. If you smoke, grill for a group, or cook a main and a side together, more probes save you from juggling one thermometer between dishes.
With a wired leave-in, the display sits beside you and the alarm is loud enough to hear from the next room, so most people keep it on the kitchen counter. If you want to walk out to the yard or leave the house entirely, that's where our smart wireless TempSpike models come in, with hundreds of feet of range or full Wi-Fi monitoring. Choose based on how far you like to wander mid-cook.
An instant-read is pulled out after each quick check.
A leave-in stays in on a wire with the display beside you.
The trade-off is simple: a leave-in never needs charging and never drops a connection, and it usually costs less, but you stay within the kitchen rather than roaming the yard. Many cooks own an instant-read plus one leave-in or smart model and are set for anything.
Wipe the probe with a damp cloth after each cook and avoid submerging the display unit or soaking the cable connector. Probes are a wear item on any brand, and that's a real advantage with TempPro: we sell official replacement probes separately, so a worn probe means a few dollars for a new one, not a whole new thermometer. That's a big reason our leave-ins last for years.
No. TempPro leave-ins give you oven-safe probes, programmable alarms, and dual-probe options at a fraction of what premium alarm thermometers charge, and because the probes are replaceable, the long-run cost stays low. You're buying years of reliable, hands-off cooking, not a premium logo.
