Ingredients
  • 2 lb ground beef
  • ½ lb onion, finely chopped
  • ⅕ lb white mushrooms, sliced
  • ⅕ lb spinach
  • ½ lb mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • ⅕ lb yellow cheddar cheese, shredded
  • ½ head garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • 3 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tbsp barbecue sauce
  • 1 tbsp yellow mustard
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Recipe Instructions
1
In a bowl, combine the ground beef, egg, chopped onion, minced garlic, salt, black pepper, and breadcrumbs. Mix until well incorporated.
2
Shape the mixture into a loaf by hand, creating a shallow well in the center. Place on a tray and chill in the refrigerator for 1 hour.
3
Heat a skillet over medium heat with a little oil. Add the mushrooms and spinach and saute until softened. Remove from heat and set aside.
4
Remove the shaped loaf from the refrigerator. Fill the center of each patty with mozzarella cheese, sautéed spinach and mushrooms, and cheddar cheese. Top with another patty and seal the edges firmly to enclose the filling.
5
In a small bowl, whisk together the ketchup, barbecue sauce, yellow mustard, and honey. Brush the mixture over the stuffed loaf.
6
To check whether the patties have been cooked to the proper temperature, insert a TempPro TP970 TempSpike Plus into the center of a patty to see if the target temperature of 155°F has been reached. Place the finished loaf on a baking sheet.
7
Bake in the center of a preheated oven at 375°F for about 1 hour, or until the internal temperature reaches 155°F.
8
Remove from the oven, let rest for a few minutes, then slice and serve. Garnish with chopped parsley.
