I finally was able to try these out and was very impressed with how easy they are to use. While I appreciate the app, I also really like the fact that the app is not necessary to use. The probes and the base unit are ready to work, right out of the box. No set up needed, and the use was completely intuitive. The display tells you internal temp, ambient temp, and which probe (black or white) it is displaying. The probes and receiver base all charge easily in the same cradle.When you add in the app, it becomes much more functional, with the ability to set targets and actually see the heating profiles as you cook.If I had one minor nitpick, it is the size of the probes. They are quite a bit thicker than the probe on a typical manual thermometer. This makes it pretty challenging to use on smaller cuts of meat. In theory those are easier to cook, but you also have smaller windows of time to get the perfect temperature. I tried to used it on an average sized boneless chicken breast but had trouble getting the probe to stay where I wanted.
Having multiple heat probes, all measuring inner, middle, and ambient Temps simultaneously really help dial in long cooks. The graphing feature is nice to have also, especially for using as a reference for tweaking things in the future. Wifi connectivity works flawless and it's nice to be able to check on things anytime, anywhere. Battery life is great, longest ive ran them is 14 hrs and still displayed 50% when finished.As for product support: After 5 long cooks, the black probe quit working/wouldn't connect. I reached out to TempPro/tempspike and within 24 hours they had a replacement on the way, no hassle. I would have been happy with just a replacement probe, but was shocked to find they sent an entire new system/setup 2 probes included! overall a Great product and impressive customer service! only "con" I can think of is the app has to stay running/idle in the background of your phone, it can't be fully closed without disconnecting. A minor nucence at best. Wouldn't hesitate to buy again!

!Easy to set up, and the app works flawlessly. I was an early adopter of the Meater, and this takes the technology to another level. The connection is strong, the interface is user-friendly, and the accuracy is spot-on. Super impressed with how far wireless thermometers have come—this one’s a winner!
Device initially received was apparently defective, which was frustrating. However, I did reach out to their customer service team, and they were ultimately outstanding. About a 24 hour lag time in messaging, and I had to be specific in letting them know I'd followed their very specific instructions for adding the device to the app, devices, networks, and such I was working with, and the way things weren't working, but the TempPro customer support team does appear to stand behind their product, and a replacement was shipped out, and it definitely works. Of particular note, for those of you running mixed 2.4GHz/5GHz wifi networks, you really do have to separate the 2.4 from the 5 in order to get this device to connect, and it specifically only connects to the 2.4GHz side. Fingers crossed, there's longevity in this novel little device.

TempSpike Wireless Meat Thermometer ReviewI grabbed the TempSpike Wireless Meat Thermometer because I was tired of my old Bluetooth one dropping the signal every time I stepped away from the smoker or oven. That limited range—barely reaching past the kitchen—and constant phone disconnects were a hassle, so this one caught my eye with its promise of better range and a dedicated display. I wanted something reliable for keeping tabs on my BBQ without babysitting it.What I like most about this thermometer is how well it delivers on range and convenience. The WiFi and Bluetooth combo means I can wander around the house—or even the yard—and still get updates through the app, no problem. But the real winner is the rechargeable base with its own display. I don’t always need my phone; I can just glance at the base and see the temp right there, which is perfect when I’m juggling other stuff during a cookout. The probes feel solid, too—waterproof and heat-resistant—and they’ve held up great inside my smoker.There are a couple of minor letdowns, though. The app is handy but can be a little glitchy to set up initially—pairing took me a few tries before it stuck. Also, while the probes are high-precision as advertised, the base display is pretty basic. It shows the temp fine, but I wish it had a bit more info, like a timer or target temp alert, without needing to check the app.Overall, this is a big step up from my old setup. Wow, this is one awesome wireless meat thermometer system in my opinion! It was relatively simple to set up and has been working great to date. I really love that the probes are wireless and rechargeable since I have been struggling with a wired system for a long time now. I also like that the monitor is wireless and rechargeable as well. In addition, I like that the system can be monitored using a mobile device app. So far, the temperature readings have been very accurate and on par with the wired system I was previously using. Overall, I am very happy with this product and therefore highly recommend it with five stars all the way!
We have tried multiple other wireless meat thermometers and have gone from excited to disappointed with each one because they would disconnect when out of bluetooth range, and then reconnect only inconsistently when back in range. This TempSpike changes all that. It has a genius base unit that you place next to your grill, and then the base unit connects to your Wifi... so you can see and monitor your temps from ANYWHERE in the house. Absolutely solves all problems! Plus, the app is so well designed it'll even give you down-to-the-second countdown of when you should take each piece of meat off. First time we tried it we ended up with 4 perfectly cooked steaks (all of different thicknesses, all that came off at different times). Can't recommended this more highly!
I think the temps are off. My thermapen one was reading a higher temp when tested.
